Meet Dr. Summers
Dr. Summers is a recent graduate from the University of Louisville Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program. While in residency, Dr. Summers gained extensive training in the broad scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including anesthesia, dental extractions, complex bone grafting and implant therapy, orthognathic surgery, facial trauma and reconstruction, temporomandibular joint disease, oral pathology, and cleft lip and palate management. Dr. Summers obtained both her DMD and MD from the University of Louisville dental and medical schools, graduating each program with honors. She also completed a one year general surgery internship.
Dr. Summers holds hospital privileges at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville. She is a diplomate of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Summers is also a member of the Virginia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, and the Charlottesville-Albemarle Dental Society. Her professional interests include anesthesia, dental extractions, implants, bone grafting and reconstruction, orthognathic/corrective jaw surgery, trauma, and pathology. Most importantly, Dr. Summers enjoys providing a pleasant experience for her patients and their families in a safe environment.
Dr. Summers is originally from southwestern Virginia. She obtained her bachelor of science in nursing at the University of Virginia before pursuing her dental education in Kentucky. While at UVA, she met her husband, Todd, who is a “triple Hoo.” Dr. Summers, her husband, and their two young children are excited to return to serve the community that they love.
