Meet Dr. Summers
Dr. Summers is a graduate of the University of Louisville Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program. While in residency,
Dr. Summers gained extensive training in the broad scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including anesthesia, dental extractions, complex bone grafting and implant therapy, orthognathic surgery, facial trauma and reconstruction, oral pathology, and cleft lip and palate management. Dr. Summers obtained both her DMD and MD from the University of Louisville dental and medical schools, graduating each program with honors. She also completed a one-year general surgery internship.
Dr. Summers holds privileges at Martha Jefferson Hospital. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Summers is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is a member of the Virginia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the Charlottesville-Albemarle Dental Society, and the American Medical Association. Her professional interests include anesthesia, dental extractions and implants, bone grafting and reconstruction, orthognathic/corrective jaw surgery, trauma, and pathology. Additionally, she has enjoyed mentoring dental residents as adjunct faculty at the University of Virginia. Most importantly, Dr. Summers enjoys providing a pleasant experience for her patients and their families in a safe environment.
Dr. Summers is originally from southwestern Virginia. She obtained her bachelor of science in nursing at the University of Virginia before pursuing her graduate education in Kentucky. While at UVA, she met her husband, Todd, who is a “triple Hoo.” Dr. Summers, her husband, and their two young children are excited to live in and serve the community that they love.
