Meet Dr. Irizarry
Dr. Irizarry earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Connecticut before moving to Virginia to complete her residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). While there, she received comprehensive training in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including office-based anesthesia, wisdom tooth and dentoalveolar surgery, dental implant placement and bone grafting, corrective jaw (orthognathic) surgery, facial trauma, and oral pathology. She served as Chief Resident during her final year of training.
Dr. Irizarry is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, and the Virginia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. She holds privileges at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital. She is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care while emphasizing safety, comfort, and shared decision-making throughout every stage of treatment. She believes that educating patients and helping them feel comfortable throughout the treatment process is just as important as providing excellent surgical care.
Originally from Long Island, New York, Dr. Irizarry and her husband, Matthew, chose to make Central Virginia their home after falling in love with the area’s natural beauty, vibrant community, and exceptional quality of life. She is excited to serve the Charlottesville and Central Virginia communities. Outside of the office, Dr. Irizarry enjoys playing tennis, reading, and attending UVA sporting events. She is always accepting recommendations for new restaurants to try!
