Meet Dr. Solomon
A graduate of Penn State University, Dr. Solomon received his dental degree from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1986 and completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery training at Baylor University Medical Center in 1996. After achieving the rank of Captain, he retired from the US Navy after serving more than 22 years of active duty service including a tour to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and as staff surgeon at Naval Hospitals in San Diego, CA, Rota, Spain, Newport, RI, and Bethesda, MD.
Dr. Solomon is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and also is an examiner. He is an active member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, President of the Baylor Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Alumni Association, the Southeast Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Charlottesville Albemarle Dental Society. He is past president of the Virginia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons after having served two terms.
Dr. Solomon’s surgical interests include wisdom teeth and dental extractions, dental implants, bone grafting/reconstruction, treatment of facial trauma, corrective jaw surgery, and the treatment of oral pathology and infections. He has lectured on topics including TMJ surgery, bone grafting, implant surgery, facial reconstruction, obstructive sleep apnea, and trauma.
Dr. Solomon is married and has two sons. He enjoys the outdoors, especially boating and fishing. He is an annual participant and sponsor in the UVA ParadeRest Virginia “4 Our Freedom 5k” race.
Dr. Solomon holds active hospital privileges at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital.
